The New York Princess Party reading corner blog posts are to showcase "princess approved" children's books from our royal library. Happy reading!

The Paper Bag Princess, written by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Michael Martchenko, is a can't miss blast from the past of our younger princess days. First published in 1980, this charming story reverses the typical roles of the princess and her dragon.

Princess Elizabeth finds her wedding plans derailed when a dragon shows up in her kingdom, destroys everything (including all her beautiful clothes) and kidnaps her prince! Forced to wear the only thing she has left - a paper bag - Princess Elizabeth sets out to rescue her beloved prince. We don't want to give away the ending too easily! Check it out from your local library, or click the photo below to purchase it from Amazon.

The Reading Corner: Tallulah's Tutu

The New York Princess Party reading corner blog posts are to showcase "princess approved" children's books from our royal library. Happy reading!

Today's reading corner is a book that speaks directly to my 6 year old self. If only Tallulah was around to teach me the wisdom of ballet back in the day...(sigh). Lucky for your little ballerina she has Tallulah to show her what it's all about. Most importantly a sweet lesson about needing to work hard in order to meet your goals. A valuable lesson for all princesses :)

Tallulah LOVES ballet and wants nothing more than to become a great ballerina. The only thing that stands in her way is lack of a tutu. She just knows that this the thing that's missing. So when she signs up to start ballet she is disappointed to learn that she won't be getting a tutu right away. She learns it's something ballerinas have to work hard to receive. She's so upset she decides to quit; but everywhere she goes she's reminded of ballet! What ever will she do to get to her dream? Written by Marilyn Singer and illustrated by Alexandra Boiger. Visit the Tallulah site to learn all about the team and the sequel Tallulah's Solo. Happy reading :)
