Royal party games week 2

Hello again royal guests! This week launches the 2nd in our royal party game series. What makes this week's games unique is that all three can be done without any materials and pulled out at any time. Having these in your back pocket can come in handy especially when you run into unexpected delays during your party and may need to keep young guests engaged and happy. Enjoy!

Princess Charades
Someone is appointed the "official Jester of the court," (preferably one of the grown ups or an older child). Select the person who will go first. The jester will whisper a (super top secret) word or phrase of a royal nature to the first person and will not participate in guessing with the others. The first person stands in front of guests and must act out the jester's word or phrase without using any sound. Whoever guesses the correct word or phrase is the next person to go and the process starts again.

Princess Trivia Game
Let's turn on those listening ears and put on our thinking caps! Princess Trivia is conducted by providing 3 clues about a princess and having your royal guests guess which princess it may be. Bonus points for those who can incorporate singing parts of the princesses' songs! For example: "This princess prefers to keep her house very tidy, she's always on the run and she sings the song 'A dream is a wish your heart makes.....when you're fast asleep...'" Answer: Cinderella! Being creative in your clues can make it all the more fun :)

Princess Says
This game has the same rules as "Simon Says" except guests will be led by their "Princess." All guests stand in front of the princess and do as their instructed as long as the phrase "Princess says," is mentioned beforehand. (For example: "Princess say clap your hands.") Anyone caught doing what the princess didn't say must sit down. (For example: "Clap your hands.") The last person standing wins the game and then becomes the princess!

Have a ball with these royal party games

Today we'll be kicking off a series of posts all centered around the theme of "Royal Party Games!" One of our princesses' favorite things are to play games. You would think that when it comes to parties in NYC the one thing you don't have is space for party games. We beg to differ! While our NYC kingdom parties may lack the grand ballrooms of our castles, these games make up for the lack of space with miles of creativity and tons of fun! Over the next few weeks we'll be showcasing some of our simple, and most importantly FUN party games that work for royal guests ages 3-10. Also, all of these games are diverse enough to cover entertaining from your studio apartment all the way up to a community center rec room. Happy playing!

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG

Things you’ll need:
A bag of Hershey’s kisses
Blindfold
Paper Slips (1 for each guest)
Pen
A bag, Bowl or Hat

Getting Ready:
Step 1:  Write the word ‘frog’ on one slip of paper.
Step 2:  Write the names of other animals on all the other pieces.
Step 3:  Fold each piece of paper, and put it in the bag, bowl or hat.

When the guests arrive:
Step 1: Choose one guest to be the princess.  We of course suggest this being the birthday girl herself to start!
Step 2:  All the other guests form a circle around the princess.
Step 3:  Blindfold the princess.
Step 4: Have all the guests pick a piece of paper until someone gets the one that says ‘frog.’
Step 5:  The princess then says, “with this kiss, the frog becomes a prince.’  The guests then all start making the sounds of their animal, but only the child that has the "frog" slip may say ‘ribbit.’
Step 6:  The princess should walk towards the frog, using the ribbit sounds as her guide.
Step 7:  When she thinks she knows who the frog is, she should hand that guest the kiss.
Step 8:  If she guesses right, the frog gets to keep the kiss, and sits out the next round while the player to the right of her is the princess.
Step 9:  If she guesses wrong, then guest gives back the kiss, and must sit out while play starts again, with the frog now playing the princess.

Whimsical Centerpieces

These DIY projects offer something sweet and whimsical for everyone. Click on the image to direct you to the source and further instructions. Enjoy :)

This candy bouquet centerpiece can be adjusted to fit any color palette. We're sure guests would have no problem helping with the clean up either!
All this party is missing is a balloon sculptor!

We love a centerpiece that is both pretty and functional! These jars of crayons are great for coloring pages, or wrapping the table in butcher paper for little ones to create their own place mats.

For a more sophisticated and "grown up"tea party, a sunshine bouquet in a teapot seems to fit the bill.

If pink is the operative word for your little princess, this centerpiece has it all!
We hope we've provided a little inspiration for your upcoming event with these fun and easy centerpieces. Your NY Princess Party team wishes you a party full of magical moments!
